Renowned Kollywood actors Simran and Silambarasan (Simbu) on Monday met the newly sworn-in Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay at the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party headquarters in Chennai. The actors called on the actor-turned-politician to extend their heartfelt congratulations and shared pictures from their warm reunion on social media.

Actress Simran visited the Chief Minister along with her husband and two sons. Reflecting on the memorable meeting with her former co-star, Simran wrote, “Years after sharing screen space together, it was a pleasure to meet Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru Vijay with my family. The warmth, humility, and sincerity that endeared him to so many people remain exactly the same! His passion and vision for the progress of our state are inspiring. Wishing him the very best as he leads Tamil Nadu forward.” Vijay and Simran are considered one of the most iconic on-screen pairs in Tamil cinema, having delivered massive hits like Nerukku Ner, Once More, Thulladha Manamum Thullum, Priyamaanavale, and Udhaya.

Actor Silambarasan TR also had a special meeting with Vijay and expressed his joy on his official social media handles. Sharing the pictures, Simbu noted, “It was a pleasure meeting Hon’ble Chief Minister @tvkvijayhq anna today. Wishing him strength, success and God’s blessings as he serves the people of Tamil Nadu.” Though the two top stars have not shared screen space, Vijay has historically extended strong support to Simbu and his father T. Rajendar, notably during the release struggles of Simbu’s film Vaalu.

Ever since Vijay took the oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10, a steady stream of film personalities and dignitaries have been visiting the TVK headquarters to congratulate him. Breaking the decades-long duopoly of the traditional DMK and AIADMK Dravidian parties, Vijay’s political outfit TVK registered a historic victory by securing 108 seats in the state Assembly elections.
