PATHANAPURAM: Kerala Transport Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar has strongly refuted allegations of a domestic dispute with his wife, Bindu Menon, calling the claims a “political stunt” orchestrated by the Congress party to influence the upcoming elections.
The controversy arose following a social media post by KSU State Vice President M.J. Yedukrishnan, who alleged that a dispute occurred at the Minister’s ancestral home in Valakom on Saturday.
The Allegations
According to the reports and social media claims:
- Marital Discord: Allegations surfaced that Bindu Menon discovered the Minister in an “embarrassing situation” at their residence .
- Physical Altercation: It was claimed that the Minister’s personal staff prevented her from leaving and attempted to snatch her mobile phone, which reportedly contained evidence of the incident
- Police Intervention: Reports indicated that Bindu Menon contacted the police emergency number (112) on the advice of former DGP R. Sreelekha, and a police team arrived at the scene but reportedly left without taking action
Ganesh Kumar’s Response
During a press interaction, Ganesh Kumar dismissed the entire episode as a fabrication:
- Dismissal of the 112 Call: The Minister stated that “anyone with a deranged mind can call 112,” and the mere arrival of the police does not prove any domestic violence or wrongdoing [1.1].
- Attack on R. Sreelekha: He questioned the involvement of former DGP Sreelekha in his personal life, accusing her of acting out of professional jealousy [1.1].
- “Affairs are Natural”: In a bold statement, he remarked that love is natural and that he has “thousands of affairs” in the form of the love he receives from the public. He added that anyone who doesn’t love or isn’t loved is “a fool” [1.2, 1.5].
Context of the Controversy
The Minister claimed that these personal attacks are a recurring theme whenever he faces an election. He expressed confidence that the people of Pathanapuram, who have seen him through various controversies over the past 25 years, will see through this “propaganda” and grant him a record victory margin
