New Delhi: India’s state-of-the-art missile technology test is successful in the context of continuing conflict with China on the border. The Supersonic Missile Assisted Release of Torpedo (Smart) system, which travels at supersonic speeds, was tested at the Integrated Testing Center at Wheeler Island (Abdul Kalam island), Odisha. After reaching a certain orbit, it completed various stages, including the detachment of the torpedo from the missile. This allows a warship and a submarine to attack together. The missile has a range of 350 nautical miles. The torpedo’s slow-moving system also showed the expected performance, officials said. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO on the success of the experiment.
