New Delhi: The NIA court in Bilaspur has directed the Special Public Prosecutor to submit the case diary in connection with the arrest of Malayali nuns in Chhattisgarh. The court clarified that the bail plea can only be considered after examining the case diary.
Due to concerns about delays if the plea was filed in the High Court, Church leadership decided to file the bail plea in the Bilaspur NIA court itself. Following this, the court issued its direction. Senior advocate Amrito Das is representing the nuns and aims to inform the court about their health condition.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a crucial meeting in Delhi regarding the arrest. The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar were summoned to the meeting at Shah’s office. Amit Shah expressed strong dissatisfaction with the developments in Chhattisgarh. However, the Chief Minister reportedly said that actions would be in line with central directives and follow the legal process. For the fifth consecutive day, the government rejected notices submitted in Parliament to discuss the issue.
