Anthrax confirmed in wild boars in Thrissur Athirapally; Health Minister said that immediate action has been taken for prevention

Thrissur: Anthrax has been confirmed in wild boars in Thrissur’s Athirapally forest area. The disease was confirmed in a sample test conducted after wild boars had died here. People who removed the wild boar are under surveillance.
Health Minister Veena George informed that people should be careful not to go to those places and not to handle dead bodies of animals, including wild boars. The Minister also requested that they inform the officials of the Animal Husbandry Department, Health Department or Forest Department.

In Thrissur district, a review meeting has been held in this regard and preventive measures have been intensified. Animal Welfare Department has taken steps to start vaccination of animals.

Anthrax is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis. It is a disease transmitted from animals to humans. If not treated in time, the disease can worsen and lead to death.
