Patiala: Police have arrested Barjinder Singh Parwana, the mastermind of the Patiala violence. He was arrested in Mohali this morning. He was nabbed by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Patiala team led by Inspector Sharminder Singh.
The clashes erupted during an anti-Khalistan march by the Shiv Sena yesterday. The police had not permitted the march. A bandh was held today in Patiala, Punjab, where clashes between Sikh organizations and Shiv Sena activists took place. So far, cases have been registered against 25 people in connection with the clashes.
Police in Patiala has set up heavy security in the wake of the clashes. Police lifted the ban and the ban on mobile internet services yesterday evening. Internet services were suspended until 6 p.m., but mobile Internet services were restored by 4 p.m. after law and order returned to normal. The ban was lifted at 6 p.m.
Police are on high alert in Ambala in the wake of the Patiala clashes. Police have so far registered cases against 25 people.
