New Delhi: India approves single-dose covid vaccine from American company Johnson & Johnson. Permission granted for emergency use of the vaccine.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavya made the announcement. Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine is approved for immediate use. There are currently five EUA vaccines in India. The minister tweeted that this would create more impetus for the fight against covid.
The vaccine is distributed in India by Hyderabad – based pharmaceutical company Biological E. This is a vaccine that can be stored in a regular refrigerator.
Johnson & Johnson had sought permission in April to test the Jannsen vaccine in India. It was during this time that Johnson & Johnson tested the vaccine in the United States following reports of blood clots.
