Kozhikode: It is reported that bird flu has been confirmed in the state as well. 300 chickens from a private poultry farm in Koochand Kalangali in Kozhikode district have dead. Samples of these were sent to Trivandrum and Alappuzha Labs. Another more samples were sent to a lab in Bhopal for further confirmation.

The chickens died on July 20. After confirming the bird flu, the district collector ordered to shut all the poultry farms in this area. The collector called a meeting to discuss this. The authorities informed people that not to worry about this.
The bird flu is reported again in the state after a while. A 12-year-old native of Haryana has died due to bird flu recently. The bird flu virus is being tested at the Pune Virology Institute. Confirmed by H5N1.
