Bangalore: The lockdown in Karnataka has been extended to 14 this month. The lockdown was imposed on May 10 in Karnataka. It was later extended twice. Twenty-four out of 30 districts have TPR above 10 percent.

The five-day average of daily cases is more than fifteen thousand. It was in this context that it was decided to extend the lockdown.

The lockdown was extended due to high covid positivity and mortality rates. ‘Our priorities are health, life, and livelihood. With this in mind, the way forward is to keep the lockdown until the test positivity rate (TPR) is below five percent, the daily cases are below five thousand and the case death rate (CFR) is below one percent, ‘said Dr. MK Sudarshan said.
