Srinagar: A militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Rawalpore area of Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir, police said. M4 rifles and ammunition were recovered from the scene. The operation was carried out by the police, army, and CRPF. The deceased has not been identified.
Two militants were hiding in a house in the area where the incident took place. The search began on Saturday evening after police received a tip-off about the presence of militants.
Meanwhile, the search had to be halted to evacuate the locals safely. Inspector-General of Police Vijay Kumar said the attack took place after they were released safely. On March 11, two Jaish-e-Muhammad militants were killed in a clash with security forces in the Anantnag district.
