New Delhi: The Supreme Court has allowed the Center to go ahead with the construction of a new parliament building. The majority of the verdict approved to proceed with the paperwork of the project.
The Prime Minister inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony on December 10. No other construction work was permitted. The bench headed by Justice A.M Khan Wilker announced the verdicts in the petitions against the project.
The goal is to build a new building complex before 2022. This is due to the lack of facilities, security, and technology for the current parliament building.
However, 60 former officials had written to the Prime Minister asking him to abandon the Rs 20,000 crore project to renovate Central Vista.
