Kochi: The NIA has confirmed that Faisal Fareed has been arrested by the UAE in connection with a gold smuggling case. In addition to Faisal Fareed, Rabins was also arrested in Dubai by the UAE. There were rumors that they had been arrested earlier in the UAE, but no official confirmation has been received. Faisal Fareed is the third accused in the case and Rabins Hameed is the 10th accused. Faisal Fareed, Rabins Hameed, Siddique Akbar, Ahmed Kutty, Ratheesh, and Mohammad Shamir were issued Blue Corner notices. The NIA has charged Faisal with forgery, aiding and abetting terrorism, and complicity in smuggling. Customs had received information that Rabins, a native of Muvattupuzha, had helped Faisal Fareed to smuggle gold in a diplomatic parcel. Earlier, Rabins was under customs surveillance.
