Colombo: Sri Lanka blast series killed 207 persons, seven arrested. The blast occurred in Church’s and star hotels in the city. Many injured in the blast. Three of the 35 foreigners who died were Indians.
The explosion occurred in three Churches and two hotels. Police said several blasts occurred. Of the deceased, 35 were foreigners. All the injured, including foreigners, were admitted to Colombo National Hospital. The explosion occurred in the churches in Negombo and Batticaloa. The intelligence agency says the blast is aimed at foreigners and IS terror is behind the attack.
Police spokesman Ruan Gunasekara said that the explosion occurred at 8.45 in the Morning Prayer in the church. The first report was that the explosion took place in St. Anthony’s Church in Colombo and St. Sebastian’s Church in Negombo.
