Kerala: Continuous heavy rainfall across the state has prompted authorities to declare a holiday for educational institutions in eight districts today.
The holiday has been declared for schools and colleges in:
- Kottayam
- Idukki
- Pathanamthitta
- Wayanad
- Malappuram
- Alappuzha
- Palakkad
- Kozhikode
While district authorities in Wayanad had already announced the holiday yesterday evening, the closure orders for the remaining seven districts were issued early this morning as rainfall intensified overnight. Residents in vulnerable areas are advised to stay cautious.

- Water has flooded shops in Ranni town. A landslide is suspected at Nellikkapara in Konni. A landslide is also suspected at Thoombakulam in Thannithode.
- Flooding on the Kottayam–Kumily road. Traffic has also come to a standstill on the Kootickal, Kanjirappally, Mundakayam, Vandiperiyar, and Mundakayam–Erumely roads. A landslide has occurred at Vadakkemanna on the Malappuram–Kottakkal road.”
- Water levels have risen significantly in the Pamba River in Pathanamthitta.
