GURUVAYUR: The Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple has completed all necessary arrangements to accommodate the massive influx of devotees expected for the auspicious Vishu Kani Darshan on Wednesday, April 15.
To ensure a smooth experience for pilgrims, the temple administration has released a detailed schedule and updated guidelines for entry and security.
Vishu Kani Darshan Timings
The ritualistic Vishu Kani darshan will be held between 2:55 AM to 3:55 AM. Following the Kani viewing, the temple will proceed with its regular daily rituals, including Nirmalyam and Abhishekam.
Special Entry and Token Systems
Due to the anticipated heavy rush, the Devaswom board has prioritized the general queue. However, specific provisions have been made for local residents and senior citizens:
- Limited Entry: Darshan for senior citizens and the “local” (Pradeshikam) category will be limited to the first 500 people in each category via a token system.
- Token Distribution:
- Local Category: Tokens will be issued outside the Western Gopuram.
- Senior Citizens: Tokens will be available starting at 3:30 AM at the Ghee Lamp (Neyvilakku) counter outside the Bhagavathi Temple.
- Ghee Lamp Offerings: Devotees who have booked the Neyvilakku offering will be allowed darshan from 7:30 AM onwards. The administration noted that if the crowd becomes unmanageable, restrictions may be placed on this category.
Security and Traffic Management
With an unprecedented crowd expected, the temple security force will be bolstered by a significant Kerala Police presence.
- Pedestrian Flow: Movement of devotees through the East Nada (Eastern Entrance) will be strictly regulated from the early hours of Wednesday.
- One-Way System: A mandatory one-way system will be implemented for those seeking darshan from the front of the Deepasthambham.
- Flexibility: The administration stated that while strict controls are in place, regulations may be relaxed periodically depending on the crowd density.
