Vedan Marriage: Vedan to Marry Longtime Lover Navami Latha: Wedding Date Confirmed

KANNUR: Popular Malayalam indie rapper Vedan, real name Hirandas Murali, is all set to tie the knot with his long-time partner and writer, Navamilatha. The news was officially revealed in a surprise announcement by CPI(M) State Secretary M.V. Govindan during the Happiness Festival held in Taliparamba, Kannur.

The couple will register their marriage in a simple ceremony in Thrissur on February 24.

A Surprise Announcement on Stage The unexpected revelation happened during the Happiness Festival, organized by the state government as part of the Local Self-Government Day celebrations. Vedan was attending the event to perform when M.V. Govindan took the stage and surprised both the rapper and the massive crowd.

Addressing the sea of people, the CPI(M) State Secretary wished the couple well, announcing, “I wish all the very best to Vedan, who is getting married on February 24 in Thrissur, with this ocean of people as witnesses.” The crowd welcomed the announcement with massive applause and cheers, while a visibly happy Vedan responded with a bright smile.

During the event, M.V. Govindan also honored the rapper by draping a ponnada (traditional shawl) around him. Praising the artist, Govindan stated, “We are conveying the respect of Taliparamba, Kannur, and Kerala. Vedan’s music is a pledge that will guide the coming generation with the right sense of direction.”

Vedan Confirms the Wedding Details During his reply speech, Vedan confirmed the news to his fans. “As Mash (Govindan) said, I am going to have a register marriage on the 24th. It is my wedding,” the rapper shared. The couple had originally planned to keep the news low-profile and register their marriage in a simple ceremony in Thrissur.

The ‘Monalova’ Love Story Vedan and Thrissur-native Navamilatha have been in a relationship for a long time. Fans of the rapper might already be familiar with their bond, as Vedan had previously revealed that his highly celebrated romantic rap track, ‘Monalova’, was written about Navami.

The Voice of the Voiceless Hirandas Murali, widely known by his stage name Vedan, became a breakthrough sensation in the Malayalam indie music scene with his 2020 debut track, ‘Voice of the Voiceless’. He is highly regarded for his powerful lyrics that address the systemic oppression faced by marginalized communities, including Dalits, and their ongoing struggles for equality and justice.
