New Delhi: The United States has deported notorious gangster Anmol Bishnoi — brother and close associate of underworld criminal Lawrence Bishnoi — to India. Anmol, who was arrested in the US last year, had been in American custody according to earlier reports. He is wanted in several major cases, including the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique’s son Zeeshan and the firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence.
Anmol, considered one of India’s most-wanted criminals, is a key operative of the Bishnoi gang’s North America-based international network. His deportation is expected to significantly strengthen India’s efforts to dismantle the gang’s global operations.
Officials said Anmol boarded a flight to India following his deportation and is expected to arrive in Delhi around 10 a.m. on the 19th. Mumbai police have stated that Anmol poses a serious threat to society and must be brought to the city for custodial interrogation to uncover details of multiple conspiracies, including who ordered the murder of Baba Siddique’s son.
In October 2024, Zeeshan Siddique was shot dead outside his Bandra office. Voice messages recovered during the investigation reportedly contained instructions from Anmol.
Anmol is also the prime accused in the April 2024 firing incident outside Salman Khan’s Bandra residence, which he allegedly coordinated using secure communication apps from abroad. With his involvement in more than 18 criminal cases, including the Moosewala murder, the Centre is likely to hand over the investigations to the NIA.
