Recent changes to the Public Provident Fund (PF) system have brought both relief and satisfaction to account holders. Aimed at facilitating faster financial support during emergencies, the auto-claim settlement limit has now been raised from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh. This upgrade ensures quicker financial access when needed, as claims will now be processed and disbursed within 72 hours.
Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced the change via a post on X (formerly Twitter), adding that ₹2.32 crore worth of settlements had already been processed in the financial year 2024–25 through auto-claims. The minister also shared that 4.89 lakh new individuals aged between 18 and 25 have been added to the EPFO system. Increased awareness and outreach programs by EPFO are credited with contributing to the growing number of PF subscribers.
