Electoral bond information should be released immediately; Supreme Court ultimatum to SBI

New Delhi: Supreme Court criticizes SBI in electoral bond case. The Supreme Court directed that the SBI should hand over the information of the money received by the political parties under the bond to the Election Commission on Tuesday and the commission should make it public by March 15.

The action of the Constitution Bench chaired by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud is considering the petition given by SBI seeking time till June 30 to provide information about the bonds.

The court inquired what action was taken by the SBI even after 26 years of the Supreme Court verdict. The court directed that all the information related to the election bond should be kept in the Mumbai branch of SBI and the same should be made public.

SBI told the court that it needs more time to combine and transfer the information of the bond buyers and the parties who received the money.
