DGCA again fined Air India

New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has fined Air India for the second time for non-compliance with compensation rules.  The action came after the regulator found that Air India was not complying with the provisions of the Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) during an inspection of airlines at Delhi, Kochi and Bangalore airports.

The show-cause notice was issued on November 3 for failing to provide hotel accommodation to passengers inconvenienced by flight delays, not training ground staff as per requirements and not compensating international business class passengers who traveled in bad seats.  But the DGCA statement clarified that Air India’s reply to the notice was not satisfactory and a penalty of Rs 10 lakh was imposed for non-compliance with CAR conditions.
