New Delhi: Delhi Police has charged UAPA against News Click, a news portal, following the allegation of taking funds from China. Delhi Police raided the houses of journalists and others working in connection with News Click. Mobile phones and laptops were seized. No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
But there are also reports that some were taken to the station for questioning. The Enforcement Directorate had earlier taken a case against the news portal and investigated the funding. Some assets related to the news portal were also confiscated.
Apart from News Click editor Prabir Purakayastha, the residences of journalists Abhisar Sharma, Bhashasingh and Urmilesh, writer Geeta Hariharan, historian Sohail Hashmi and Dr Raghunandan of the Delhi Science Forum were also raided. Delhi Police seized mobile phones and laptops from many people during the raid.
