Tension in Manipur

Imphal: Kuki organization announces indefinite shutdown in Churachandpur in case of Manipur riots.  The protest of Kuki organizations is demanding the release of seven people arrested by NIA and CBI teams.  Internet ban in Manipur extended for 5 days amid tension  All borders will be closed.  They say that those arrested in the students’ murder case should be released.

 CBI has arrested 6 people from Churachandpur in Imphal in connection with the kidnapping and murder of students in Manipur.  2 of them are minors.  Chief Minister Biren Singh said that no one can escape from the hands of law.

 Last July, two students belonging to Meitei sect went missing.  After the internet was restored in Manipur, the pictures of them being killed came out.

 Meanwhile, Manipur riot accused Sei Manul Gangtey, who was arrested last day, was released in NIA custody for two days.  Delhi Patiala House Court remanded the accused in custody.
