Kochi: Junior SI Jimmy of Hill Palace Police Station has been suspended in the incident of the death of a person in custody at Tripunithura Police Station. Kochi City Police Commissioner has suspended the SI pending investigation.
Manohar, a native of Tripunithura, collapsed and died while in custody. Locals alleged that Manohar was beaten up by the police. The incident happened on Saturday night.
The assault took place after the vehicle was chased without stopping. Locals allege that Manohar was taken to the police station after beating him up. Manohar was taken into custody by the police for careless driving. The police said that he did not stop despite showing his hand and was arrested and brought to the police station.
