New Delhi: CBI has arrested former ICICI CEO Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar in the loan fraud case. The arrest was related to the loan sanctioned when Chanda was the head of the institution. Both are now in CBI custody in a loan conspiracy case. The CBI had earlier registered a case against Chanda, Deepak, and Videocon Group promoter Venugopal Dhoot.
Both will be produced in a special court tomorrow seeking custody. The CBI is investigating charges of misuse of power and criminal conspiracy against them.
Between 2009 and 2011, ICICI Bank extended a Rs 1,875-crore loan to Videocon International Electronics Ltd, allegedly in breach of conditions. Enforcement officials raided Chanda and Deepak’s house and offices in connection with the case. ED also arrested Chanda in 2021.
