Chance of heavy rain in the state; Yellow alert in various districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in Kerala. A yellow alert has been declared in Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad districts tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. Heavy rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is forecast in isolated places in 24 hours.

The Central Meteorological Department has warned of isolated thundershowers in Kerala from today till the 19th. The risk of thunderstorms is high between 2 pm and 10 pm. (Sometimes it may be late at night). The warning said thunderstorms are likely to be active in the hilly region and the public should take precautions.

Rajinikanth’s party symbol is auto-rickshaw

Chennai: Style Mannan Superstar Rajinikanth’s Political Party realizing in. Autorickshaw logo for a party called “Makkal Sevai Katchi'(People Service Party). The Legislative Assembly for 2021 will also be declared the political party on the 31st of this month. Fans group of Rajanikant- Rajani Makkal Mantram registered the party.

The party’s first preference was the two-finger symbol (the “rock-on” gesture used by Rajinikanth in the film “Baba”) and the second choice was the autorickshaw. The election body assigned the second – a reminder of another popular Rajini starrer, “Basha”, in which he played an autorickshaw driver.

According to the list of the Election Commission, September 2019, the party has changed its name to Sevai Katchi.

Local election counting: Ban in four places

Kozhikode: A ban has been announced in four places. The ban was imposed in Nadapuram, Valayam, Kuttyadi, and Perambra police stations. The ban lasts until the evening of December 17.Crowds are not allowed within 500 meters of the counting center. Inwards and municipalities, the joyous performance should be limited to a certain extent. The ban comes in the wake of violence in several places on polling day.

The vehicle that hit the journalist SV Pradeep was taken into custody; Driver Joy arrested

Thiruvananthapuram: The lorry that caused the death of journalist SV Pradeep was found. Driver Joy was taken into custody by Fort police. He was taken into custody from Enchakkal. Joy has been charged with murder. The owner Mohanan will also be taken into custody, police said. The lorry is named after Mohanan’s daughter. The driver stated that the accident happened when he was going to unload the load at Vellayani.

Mohanan and Joy were on their way to Shantivila from the Vattiyoorkavu quarry carrying Msand. Joy told police he knew the vehicle had crashed and had not stopped because of fear. After unloading the M sand, we left the scene of the accident and took another route to Peroorkada. The lorry was picked up again in the morning after it was learned through the media that the lorry number was not clear. The lorry and its driver were taken into custody after they were informed that the lorry was passing through Enchakkal. 

ED’s interrogation notice: CM Raveendran seeks High Court

Kochi: Enforcement Directorate sent a notice to C M Raveendran seeking to appear for questioning. He is now scheduled to appear on Thursday. Following this, Raveendran filed a petition in the High Court. In a petition filed in the high court, CM Raveendran said that he was ill and should not be taken into custody. The petition also states that the proceedings of the ED should stay and that counsel be allowed when the ED is questioned.This is the fourth time that ED Raveendran has been given notice. Raveendran did not appear for questioning three times citing the health problems caused by Covid. Raveendran said in a letter to the Enforcement last week that he had a severe headache and neck pain. Raveendran had attached the report of the medical superintendent with the letter.

Thiruvananthapuram: There is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder in Kerala from December 17. The Central Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Isolated showers are likely in Kerala and Lakshadweep for the next five days. The Met Department has warned of heavy rains in Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep on December 17 and 18. A lightning warning has also been issued for December 16-19. No warnings were issued on other days.

Do not increase the number of pilgrims on Sabarimala: Govt says

Kochi: The government informed the high court not to increase the number of pilgrims at Sabarimala. The government was replying to Congress leader Ajay Tharayil and Ayyappa Seva Samaj’s petition to increase the number of pilgrims in Sabarimala.

State Attorney K V Sohan, who appeared for the government, handed over the medical report to the court. The government said the status quo should continue during the festival. Sannidhanam policemen were also affected by the covid.

If the number of pilgrims increases, there is a risk of spreading the disease. This situation should be avoided. The petitioners want the number of pilgrims to be increased to 10,000 per day. Admission is currently limited to 3,000 on weekends and 2,000 on other days.

The Central Election Commission to digitize identity card

New Delhi: The Central Election Commission (CEC) is planning to convert the identity card into a digital ID card.
The commission envisions a digital ID card with a photo that can be stored on a mobile phone and handled via the website and email.

Voters will be notified via SMS as soon as their name appears on the voter list. Voters can download the Digital Voter ID by clicking on the accompanying link. The ID card can be used for voting and other purposes.Like Aadhaar, ID cards are being digitized due to delays in the printing and distribution of ID cards.

ED will question Swapna and Sarith again

Kochi: The court has given permission to the enforcement to question Swapna Suresh and Sarith in jail in the money laundering case. The court accepted the ED’s request that prison officials should not be present.

The court allowed him to be questioned for three days. Questions can be asked from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The court said he could also be questioned in the absence of the jail superintendent. Court orders defendants not to be mentally abused. The Ernakulam Principal Seasons Court allowed the questioning. The interrogation will begin today if the court order is handed over.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s Additional Private Secretary CM Raveendran’s interrogation in the gold smuggling case remains unclear. The suggestion from Delhi is not to take drastic action now. The probe team is considering giving notice to Raveendran after questioning Swapna once again.
