Karipur gold smuggling case: Arjun Ayanki’s bail plea rejected

Thiruvananthapuram: Arjun Ayanki has not been granted bail in the Karipur gold smuggling case. The court rejected the bail application. This is the second time the bail application has been rejected by the court. The petition was dismissed by a court in Kochi considering the financial crimes.

The customs arrested Arjun Ayanki on June 28. The second accused in the case, Arjun, had told the customs court that there was a Kannur-based smuggling gang and that the case would be overturned if bail was granted. Customs has found that Arjun had threatened people and smuggled them in the name of two accused who are in jail in the murder case. Customs also said that the accused was involved in smuggling gold through various airports.

The court had also rejected the bail plea filed by Arjun Ayanki on July 7 last month. The customs court was told that the release of Ayanki would affect the further investigation of the case.

Mumbai: A case has been registered against Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her mother Sunanda for financial fraud. Uttar Pradesh police have registered a case against Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her mother Sunanda Shetty for allegedly cheating on a wellness center. Lucknow police will return to Mumbai to question the actress and her mother.

Two FIRs have been registered against them at Hazratganj and Vibhuti Khand police stations and the Lucknow police have intensified their probe.

Shilpa Shetty is the Chairperson of the Lois Wellness Center. Mother Sunanda Shetty is the director. They have announced the opening of a new branch of the Wellness Center, but it has not yet begun operations. They are accused of taking crores of rupees from two people in the name of the new center.

Jyotsna Chauhan and Rohit Veer Singh had lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Shilpa and her mother had cheated on them. Hazratganj police and Vibhuti Khand police have issued notices to the actress and her mother for questioning.

DGCI approves the study of Covid Vaccine Mixing

New Delhi: The Drug Controller General of India has given permission to study the combined use of the vaccine. The ICMR had found that the combined use of vaccines was more effective. This was followed by the DCGI approving vaccine trials.

A study is being conducted on the mixing of Covaxin and covishield. According to the Union Ministry of Health, 38,353 Covid cases were recorded in the country yesterday.

497 people lost their lives last day. 39689 people were recovered from Covid disease last day. 3,86,351 people are currently undergoing treatment in the country. Covid cure rate has increased to 97.45%. According to the Union Ministry of Health, more than 51.56 crore vaccines have been distributed so far.

Thiruvananthapuram: Temporary solution to the vaccine shortage in the state. Today, another three lakh doses of the vaccine arrived in Kerala. Vaccination in five districts has stalled due to the depletion of vaccine stocks.

The center had said the next batch of vaccines would arrive tomorrow. However, three lakh doses were given immediately after the vaccination drive failed in five districts yesterday . Vaccination was suspended in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Wayanad districts.

PM Kisan Project; Rs 19,500 crore to farmers’ account: PM inaugurates distribution

Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the next phase of the Prime Minister’s Kisan Samman Nidhi project. The Prime Minister inaugurated the program through video conferencing. Rs 19,500 crore was distributed to 9 crores 75 lakh farming families. After the distribution inauguration, the Prime Minister interacted with the farmers.

The PM-Kisan scheme provides Rs 6,000 per annum to eligible farming families. Rs 2,000 will be transferred to the beneficiary’s bank accounts monthly.

Aadhaar will make it mandatory to add names to the voters’ list

New Delhi: The Center has taken steps to make Aadhaar mandatory for adding new names to the voters’ list. The Central Government has approached the Unique Identification Authority (UIDAI) seeking permission from the Election Commission to use Aadhaar. The move is in line with guidelines issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology last year.

In 2019, the Election Commission wrote a letter to the Law Secretary asking for permission to use Aadhaar to check voter registration problems. For this, the commission suggested that the Representation of the People Act should be amended. The Ministry of Law agreed and sent the recommendation to the Cabinet for approval. Meanwhile, no final decision has been made in this regard.

Kalpetta: The crime branch raided the house of CK Janu in the Sultan Bathery election bribery case. A team led by Crime Branch DySP Manoj Kumar is inspecting the house in Mananthavady.

The crime branch had registered a case against BJP Wayanad district general secretary Prashanth Malavayal and organization general secretary M Ganesh. This was followed by a search of Janu’s house. It is learned that the probe team has received crucial evidence against the BJP leaders in the bribery case.

Tamil Nadu tightens covid tests on people from Kerala

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has tightened the covid test for those coming from Kerala. Those coming to Tamil Nadu from the state need a Covid Negative Certificate or a certificate of completion of two doses of the vaccine. Those who do not have the documents will be subjected to RTPCR test. Passengers can go out only based on this test result. Tamil Nadu has decided to tighten the tests on those coming from Kerala from the 5th of this month.

Schools open in Karnataka; Classes from August 23rd

Bengaluru: In Karnataka, schools that were closed in the wake of the covid expansion are reopening. The government has decided to start classes 9,10,11,12 from August 23. The decision on reopening primary schools and eighth class will be taken after assessing the covid situation in the state.

A decision will be taken by the end of August. Guidelines on covid standards to be followed when schools reopen will be issued soon. It was decided at the high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister to impose weekend curfew in the border districts of Kerala and Maharashtra and to impose a curfew from 9.00 pm to 10 pm instead of 10 pm.

Eight people, including two children killed in a road accident in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Eight people were killed when a lorry rammed into them in Gujarat’s Amreli district. Two children and an adult were found sleeping in a roadside hut.

The accident happened at 2.30 am today. The truck, which was traveling with the crane, crashed into the roadside. All eight died on the spot.

The dead were children aged eight and thirteen. Two of the injured were taken to hospital. Their health condition is critical.
