Thiruvananthapuram: The government has decided to leave the probe into the custodial death of Thiruvallam native to the CBI. The Chief Minister has ordered a CBI probe into the complaint of the relatives. The case is currently being investigated by the Crime Branch. Thiruvallam Nelliyodu Suresh died in police custody on May 28.

Suresh, who was arrested on a charge of assaulting a couple who had come to visit Judgekunnu, was remanded in police custody for a whole night. The next morning he collapsed due to chest pain.

Suresh died on the way to the hospital. The post-mortem report revealed that Suresh’s death was due to a heart attack. No fatal injuries were reported.
However, during the preliminary investigation, the City Police Commissioner suspended SI Vipin, Grade SI Sajeev, and Vaishakh for non-compliance with the procedure followed in their arrest.

Toronto: Indian students killed in Canadian car crash. Five Indian students were killed in a road accident in Toronto, Canada on Saturday, Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bizaria said. The deceased were residents of Punjab. He also tweeted that two people were injured in the crash. The accident happened on the Toronto Highway at around 3.45 am local time. The dead were identified as Harpreet Singh, Jaspinder Singh, Karanpal Singh, Mohit Chauhan, and Pawan Kumar, according to the Quintay West Ontario Provincial Police. They were traveling in a van when it collided with a tractor-trailer. Police are investigating the incident. No case has been registered. The injured were rushed to the hospital. The High Commissioner took to Twitter to offer his condolences to the families of the victims.

New Delhi: Covid vaccination for 12- to 14-year-olds in the country will begin on Wednesday. The covid vaccine will be given to those born in 2008, 2009, and 2010 from the next day. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavya has said that corbevax, manufactured by Biological Evans in Hyderabad, will be provided. The covid 19 vaccine is already being given to people over the age of 14 under the ongoing covid vaccination campaign. The government has also decided to immediately remove the requirement that only those with a specific medical condition be eligible for the covid 19 precautionary dose for those over 60 years of age. From March 16, the entire population over the age of 60 will be eligible for the precautionary dose of the covid 19 vaccine. The decision was made after a meeting with health experts.

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has asked the National Board of Examinations (NCB) to reduce the cut-off mark for NEET PG 2021, the entrance exam for postgraduate medical courses, by 15 percent.
