Custody death in Thiruvallam will be handed over to the CBI for investigation

Thiruvananthapuram: The government has decided to leave the probe into the custodial death of Thiruvallam native to the CBI. The Chief Minister has ordered a CBI probe into the complaint of the relatives. The case is currently being investigated by the Crime Branch. Thiruvallam Nelliyodu Suresh died in police custody on May 28.

Suresh, who was arrested on a charge of assaulting a couple who had come to visit Judgekunnu, was remanded in police custody for a whole night. The next morning he collapsed due to chest pain.

Suresh died on the way to the hospital. The post-mortem report revealed that Suresh’s death was due to a heart attack. No fatal injuries were reported.
However, during the preliminary investigation, the City Police Commissioner suspended SI Vipin, Grade SI Sajeev, and Vaishakh for non-compliance with the procedure followed in their arrest.
