Private bus strike continues in the state

Thiruvananthapuram: The bus strike by private bus owners is entering its second day today. Transport Minister Antony Raju had yesterday said that the strike was an unnecessary move to raise the minimum charge to Rs 12 and the concession charge for students to Rs 6.

The trade unions are trying to make it appear that the rights were won under their pressure. This struggle is also a part of it. The strikers know that the process of raising the charge is in its final stages. But the minister had also accused the people of introspecting whether the struggle by challenging them during the exams was right. Kyiv: Vladimir Zelensky says Russia has used a phosphorus bomb in Ukraine. Zelensky said the attack killed people, including adults and children.

Phosphorus bombs produce dust particles that can ignite and cause severe burns when in contact with oxygen. Zelensky made the remarks in a video message to the NATO alliance.

It has been a month since Russia began its military operation in Ukraine. Zelensky requests that NATO should provide military assistance to Ukraine at this stage.

Russia’s entire arsenal is being used against Ukraine without restrictions. Zelensky said military aid was needed to save Ukraine.

New Delhi: The government has so far seized assets worth Rs 19,100 crore in connection with absconding businessmen Vijay Mallya, Neerav Modi, and Mehul Choksi. In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Finance Minister Pankaj Chaudhary said that out of the total assets seized, more than Rs 15,113 crore was transferred to public sector banks. He also said that the Indian government had seized assets worth over Rs 335 crore. The minister said the three fugitives had defrauded public sector banks and embezzled money through their companies, causing a total loss of Rs 22,585 crore.

Covid vaccine for 12-18, Covovax approved

New Delhi: Novavax, the fourth vaccine for 12 to 18-year-olds in the country, has been approved. The DCGI approved the immediate use of the vaccine.  This has been confirmed by the Serum Institute of India and Novavax.
The vaccine is developed by the Serum Institute. Adar Poonawala, CEO of the Serum Institute, said he was pleased that the protein-based vaccine was approved for adolescents.

Five killed in West Bengal house fire

Kolkata: Seven people have been killed in a fire at five houses in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. The incident took place this morning. According to local sources, the house was set on fire in retaliation for the killing of a Trinamool Congress leader. Authorities say the house caught fire after it was locked.

Birbhum District Magistrate, Fire Force, and Local Police reached the spot following the incident. On Monday, unidentified assailants hurled crude bombs at TMC panchayat leader Bhadu Pradhan in Rampurhat in Birbhum.
