Kochi: Accused Nikhil Thomas granted bail in fake graduation certificate case. The High Court granted bail with strict conditions. The conditions are to cooperate with the investigation and not to influence the witnesses. Nikhil was arrested on June 23. The bail was granted by a bench of Justice Ziyad Rahman.
Nikhil’s arrest came after it was confirmed that Nikhil Thomas joined MCom at Kayamkulam MSM College without winning BCom. Kerala University Vice Chancellor, Kalinga University Registrar and MSM College Principal confirmed that Chhattisgarh Kalinga University documents produced by him are fake.
Thiruvananthapuram: Yellow alert in three districts of the state today. Yellow alert has been announced in Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The Central Meteorological Department has said that there is a chance of moderate rain at isolated places in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Alappuzha districts and light rain at isolated places in other districts in the next hour.
More rain is likely in northern districts. There is also a warning that a cyclone is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal on Sunday. Idukki district is on yellow alert tomorrow.
Kochi: The NIA court has pronounced the punishment in the case of TJ Joseph, a teacher of the Malayalam section of Thodupuzha Newman College, hand chopped, who was accused of blasphemy in the question paper. The second and third accused in the case, Muvattupuzha Randarkara Sajil (36), Aluva Kunjunnikara MK Nasar (48) and Katungallur Ulyannoor KA Najeeb (42) were sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 each. Aluva Katungallur MK Naushad (48), Aluva Kunjunnikara PP Moiteen Kunj (60) and Taikkatukkara PM Ayub (48) have been jailed for three years each.
The verdict was given by the special NIA court in Kochi. The court found six of the eleven people who faced the second phase of trial to be guilty. The court convicted them after it became clear that they were involved in matters ranging from conspiracy to assault.
The trial of the 31 accused initially arrested in the case was completed in May 2015 and 13 accused were convicted. The trial of the 11 accused who were arrested after that was completed on Wednesday. The investigation found that the violence was carried out by the Popular Front workers. Najeeb, the main accused in the case, is still absconding.
Thiruvananthapuram: It has been confirmed that the stray dog that bit a four-year-old girl in Anchutheng was infected with rabies. Last Sunday, the street boy attacked the child who was playing in the yard. The seriously injured child is undergoing treatment at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.
After the incident, a street person who was wandering in the area died. The dog was buried without any inspection, leading to protests. Meanwhile, on Monday morning, Anchuteng Govt. Veterinary Surgeon S Jasna took out the dog and sent it for examination. In the report that checked the sample, it was found that the dog was infected with rabies.
Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in the state in the coming hours. The warning has been given to Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
It has also been advised not to go fishing in Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts. The Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of strong winds and adverse weather conditions along the Kerala-Lakshadweep coast with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph and occasional gusts of up to 55 kmph. Coastal residents should also remain vigilant, the warning states.
Thiruvananthapuram: The distribution of pension will start from July 14. More than 60 lakh people in the state will be given a pension of Rs 1600 each. The Finance Department has allocated Rs 874 crore, including Rs 768 crore for Social Security Pension and Rs 106 crore for Welfare Board Pension. This was announced by Finance Minister KN Balagopal.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will launch its third lunar mission, Chandrayaan 3, on July 14, 2023, at 2:35 pm IST. The launch will be live-streamed on the ISRO’s official YouTube channel.
The launch will take place from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The spacecraft will be launched by the Launch Vehicle Mark-III (LVM3), which is a heavy-lift launch vehicle developed by ISRO.
Chandrayaan 3 is a follow-up to the Chandrayaan 1 and Chandrayaan 2 missions. The spacecraft will carry a number of scientific instruments to study the lunar surface, including a rover and a lander.
The launch of Chandrayaan 3 is a major milestone for India’s space program. It will be the first time that India has attempted to land a spacecraft on the moon’s south pole.
