Newborn babies for sale in Delhi; Seven people were arrested

In Delhi, rackets of buying and selling newborn babies are active.  The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids in Delhi and Haryana in connection with child trafficking.  Following investigation, CBI rescued three newborn babies from a house in Kesavapuram.  The CBI has arrested seven people, including women and hospital staff, in the incident.

 The CBI conducted the raid after receiving a tip-off about the sale of babies.  5.5 lakh and other documents were recovered during the investigation.  After buying babies from parents and surrogate mothers, they were selling them for Rs 4 to 6 lakh.  The CBI said in a press release that the accused were also involved in duping childless couples by creating fake documents related to adoption.  The CBI has decided to interrogate all those involved in the case, including the woman who bought and sold the children.

KOCHI: Joseph Philip (83), father of renowned actress Meera Jasmine, passed away due to age-related ailments. He breathed his last in Ernakulam.

Joseph Philip was 83 years old. He had been undergoing treatment for age-related health issues. He is survived by his wife Eliyamma Joseph and children Jibi Sara Joseph, Jeni Sara Joseph, George, and Joy.

Deforestation of Sugandhagiri tribal land;  Nine people were arrested

 Nine people have been arrested in connection with the logging of Sugandhagiri tribal land in Wayanad.  The main accused Ibrahim, Abdul Majeed, Chandradas, Abdul Nasser, Hasankutty and Hanifa and those who helped in smuggling the trees were arrested.

 Abu Tahir and MK Prince Sudhirkumar were arrested for helping to smuggle the trees.  After the District Principal Sessions Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of ​​the main accused yesterday, they surrendered before Kalpatta Range Officer K Neetu.  Three others were arrested yesterday morning under the leadership of the range officer.  They are tree removal crane owner, crane operator and tractor driver.  The accused who were produced in the court were remanded.  The crane was seized from Ambalavyal.  Those who surrendered will be produced in court on Thursday.

 The felling was done under the guise of permission to cut 20 trees.  The latest finding is that 102 trees were cut. The government had appointed an investigation team in the incident. Voter Friendly Polling Stations: Guidelines issued

 Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul has issued a circular clarifying guidelines for making polling stations in the state voter-friendly and ensuring infrastructure in connection with the Lok Sabha elections.

 Proper signs should be placed at the polling stations to guide voters about the location of polling booths, available facilities and voter assistance booths.  These should be blue and white in English and Malayalam.  The guidelines state that the letters should be of standard size and placed at an appropriate height and should be easily visible to voters from a distance.

  Furniture in polling booths should not be damaged in any way.  When returning after polling, ensure that electrical appliances are switched off, taps are closed and notices pasted on the walls are removed.

 The District Election Officer should ensure that post-poll waste at the polling stations is disposed of following green protocol.  Each polling location should have adequate number of toilets for men and women.

  Arrangements should be made with the Department of Social Justice to provide required wheelchairs for differently abled voters at the polling stations.  Adequate chairs and benches should be provided at each polling station for disabled voters, pregnant women and senior citizens.

  The guidelines also state that de-congestion measures such as engaging volunteers to manage queues, distributing tokens, etc., can also be taken.

Explosion during manufacture of homemade bomb;  The 17-year-old lost both his hands

Fire breaks out at chemical factory in Telangana; 5 death,10 people were injured
