Sugandhagiri tree cutting Case

Kalpetta: Kalpetta Flying Squad Range Officer MP Sajeev has been transferred in connection with Sugandhagiri illegal logging case. Transferred to Kozhikode Social Forestry Division in Vadakara. KP Jiljit was appointed to Kalpetta flying squad. Grade Deputy Biran Kutty will also be transferred. With this, the action against 18 officials mentioned in the investigation report has been completed.

Dr. L. Chandrasekhar had submitted an IFS report stating that the logging took place with the connivance of the Forest Department staff. 18 officials, including a divisional forest officer and two range officers, were found guilty in the case.

126 trees were cut from Sudhangiri forest land. According to the report, forest watcher R Johnson took a bribe of Rs 52,000 from the accused and showed the trees to be cut to the contractor

Liquor case: K Kavita’s bail plea rejected

New Delhi: The trial court rejected the bail plea of BRS leader K Kavita after the ED arrested her in the Delhi liquor policy corruption case. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of Rouse Avenue Court dismissed the application.

CBI and ED had registered cases against Kavita in the liquor case. ED arrested Kavita on March 15. CBI also recorded the arrest while in judicial custody. The ED revealed that Kavita conspired with Delhi Union Minister Arvind Kejriwal and AAP leader Manish Sisodia to get the benefit of the Delhi Liquor Policy and in return handed over 100 crores to the leaders.

ICSE, ISC Exam Result Declared; 99.47% pass in class 10th and 98.19% in class 12th

New Delhi: ISC-ICSE Syllabus Class 10th and 12th Exam Result has been declared in the country. This time the pass percentage has increased as compared to the previous year. 99.47% students passed the 10th class exam across the country. National pass rate for class 12th is 98.19%.

In the examination Kerala has achieved great success. 99.99 percent of the students who wrote the exam in class 10 passed. Kerala has a pass percentage of 99.93 percent in class 12th.

This year around 2.5 lakh students appeared for the 10th class exam. In ICSE, 160 schools in the state and 72 schools in the state in ISC sat the students for the examination. Students can visit cisce.org and results.cisce.org for exam results. Also students can know the result through DigiLocker mobile application.

The students those want to revise the answer sheets after knowing the result, they have to pay Rs.1000 in ICSE category and Rs.1500 in ISC category. Students can apply for re-examination on the same sites where the results are known.

Improvement exam can be written in maximum 2 subjects. The improvement exams will be conducted in July. In 2023, the pass rate was 98.84 percent in class 10 and 96.63 percent in class 12.

Navkerala Bus Now ‘Garuda Premium’; From Sunday to Bangalore

Thiruvananthapuram: The Bharat Benz Super Luxury Bus used by the Chief Minister and Ministers for the New Kerala Yatra is ready for service after renovation. A luxury service called “Garuda Premium” will start running on the Kozhikode-Bengaluru route from Sunday.

The modern air-conditioned bus has 26 push back seats. A self-operable hydraulic lift has been arranged for passengers who are specially prepared to board the bus for differently abled persons and senior citizens who cannot use stairs. Also facilities like toilet and wash basin are provided. The bus also has television, music system, mobile charger system and luggage storage space.

It will depart Kozhikode at 4 am and reach Bengaluru at 11.35 am via Kalpetta, Sultan Bathery, Gundalpet, Mysore and Mandya. It will return at 2.30 pm and reach Kozhikode at 10.05 pm via the same route. The bus stops at Kozhikode, Kalpatta, Sultan Bathery, Mysuru and Bengaluru (Satellite and Shantinagar) with online reservation facility.

The ticket price is Rs 1,171 inclusive of cess. 5 percent luxury tax for AC buses is also payable. Maximum number of people can travel by taking the bus service from Thiruvananthapuram to Kozhikode at 6.30 pm on Wednesday.

SSLC result 2024 on May 8, Higher Secondary on May 9

Thiruvananthapuram: This year’s SSLC and THSLC exam results will be declared on May 8.

The result will be released at 3 pm. Higher Secondary and VHSC result will be declared in 9th as well.

Last year SSLC result declaration was on 19th May. This time the result is declared eleven days before.

Temperature above 45 degrees Celsius; Red alert in four states

New Delhi: Indian states are scorching in the heat. The temperature in the country crossed 45 degrees Celsius. The Central Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in four states due to the intensifying heat wave.

States of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha are on red alert. The warning is that the heat wave will continue for two to three more days. The Meteorological Department said that extreme heat is expected in eastern India till Wednesday and high temperatures will continue in the southern region for the next five days.

Orange alert has also been declared in the states of Telangana, Karnataka and Sikkim. A heat wave warning has also been issued at various places in states like Kerala, Gujarat, Sikkim and Jharkhand. Kalaikunda and Kandala region of Andhra Pradesh recorded the highest temperature in the country. The temperature here was 45.4 degrees Celsius. It was eight degrees above normal.

Andhra’s Nandyal city recorded a high of 45 degrees Celsius. The third highest maximum temperature in the country was recorded at Baripada in Odisha. 44.8 degrees Celsius. The fourth highest temperature was at Sheikhpura in Bihar. The temperature is 44 degrees Celsius. As the heat wave intensifies, the risk of sunstroke is high and people should be extra cautious, the Meteorological Center said.

7 Maoists were killed in an encounter in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Seven Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh. The encounter took place on the border of Narayanpur and Kankar districts. There are reports of injuries to a few people. The police said that there were no injuries to the security forces.

An AK-47 rifle and explosives were recovered from the spot. Five of the victims were men and two were women. With this, 88 Maoists have been killed in Bastar region this year alone.

Another death due to sunstroke in the state

Alappuzha: Another death due to sunstroke in the state. It has been confirmed that the electrician who fell down and died due to sunstroke during construction work in Chettikad, Alappuzha. The deceased is Subhash (34) of Puthanpurakkal, Chettikad.

At the same time, an elderly man who was sleeping indoors suffered burns due to the heat wave in Palakkad. Captain Subramanian, a native of Chalisheri, Palakkad, was burnt. 

One week holiday for Anganwadi children in the state

The Women and Child Development Department has decided to suspend pre-school activities in Anganwadis in the state for a week due to high temperature. There was a safety warning by the Disaster Management Authority in the wake of the heat wave.

The action was taken after the Minister of Health, Women and Child Development, Veena George, issued an instruction in this regard. Other activities of Anganwadis will continue as usual. Supplementary nutrition to be given to children during this period is delivered at home.
