NEW DELHI — Protests over examination paper leaks escalated in the national capital as opposition lawmakers staged a high-profile demonstration in central Delhi to express solidarity with affected students.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, alongside senior Congress leaders and Members of Parliament from the INDIA bloc, gathered at Gandhi Smriti on Tees January Marg. The symbolic demonstration was organized to support students protesting the NEET-UG paper leak controversy, pay homage to those who tragically lost their lives to suicide in its aftermath, and stand by students injured during recent police actions.
Flashlight Vigil and Symbolic Protest
Dressed in his signature white t-shirt, Rahul Gandhi led the gathering holding the National Flag and a copy of the Constitution of India. Accompanied by prominent figures—including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra—lawmakers illuminated the venue with their mobile phone flashlights, conducting a symbolic candlelight vigil in remembrance of the students.
Speaking on the occasion, Rahul Gandhi reassured the student community across the nation:
“India’s students are not alone. The entire Opposition stands with them and their demands.”
