
Kochi: Dr. V.P. Gangadharan, a prominent cancer specialist, has received a death threat. A letter from Mumbai, sent under the name ‘Citizen for Justice,’ demands ₹8.25 lakh as blood money, threatening to harm the doctor and his family if the amount is not paid. The letter alleges that a girl died due to Dr. Gangadharan’s medical negligence and that her mother subsequently took her own life. It further claims that the girl’s father approached the group seeking justice.
Following the receipt of the letter via post on May 17, Dr. Gangadharan lodged a complaint with the Maradu police. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. The letter demands the payment of ₹8.25 lakh in Bitcoin through a provided QR code, threatening the lives of the doctor and his family if the demand is not met.
