Kerala Government Seeks ₹9531 Crore Compensation for MSC Elsa Ship Accident

The state government has approached the High Court demanding ₹9531 crore in compensation from the shipping company for the MSC Elsa ship accident. The petition seeks action under admiralty law. The High Court has ordered the immediate arrest of another MSC company vessel, MSC Acquitaine 2, which was anchored in Vizhinjam and scheduled to depart this morning. The court further stated that the ship should only be released after a decision on compensation has been reached.
