Agni-5 missile successfully test fired, 7000 km range

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the first test of the Agni-5 missile, developed as part of India’s defense project, Operation Divyastra, was a success. Agni-5 is a multi-target missile capable of using a launch vehicle.

Once the targets are breached by the warheads, the launch vehicle will return. It can also be reused. Agni 5 can be used as warheads on missiles including nuclear weapons.

It uses Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology. There are indications that a woman led the project and developed the missile, but her name has not been officially released.
