About 60,000 Indians stranded in Ukraine have returned

Pune: Of the 20,000 Indians stranded in Ukraine, a total of 6,000 have been repatriated. Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said the Center was making every effort to repatriate the rest safely.

Of the 20,000 people stranded in Ukraine, 4,000 were repatriated to India before February 24. As of Tuesday, 2,000 students had been repatriated to India. Muraleedharan said defense planes were being used for rescue missions.

He said students were being transferred to India with the help of Ukraine’s neighbors Romania, Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia. The Central Government has launched ‘Operation Ganga’ to bring back Indians stranded in Ukraine.

The minister said facilities would be provided for students once they cross the border into Romania.
