Supreme Court rule K-rail survey can continue

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has said that the land survey for the Silver Line project, Kerala’s dream project, will continue. The Supreme Court ruled that there was nothing wrong with continuing the survey.

The apex court held that the plaintiffs had no preconceived notions and were trying to obstruct the social impact study.

The Supreme Court dismissed the petition questioning the Silverline survey. The petition filed by the landlords was rejected. The court also said it would not interfere with the High Court order granting permission for the survey.

The main demand of the petition was to cancel the survey for land acquisition and to prevent the erection of boundary stones. The High Court Single Bench and Division Bench ruled that the Government has the power to survey under the Land Act and the Survey and Board Act. The landlords approached the Supreme Court questioning this. The bench headed by Justice MR Shah considered the petition.
