Four days bank holiday from tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: Four days bank holiday from tomorrow. Banks will be closed for four days from tomorrow due to two days of bank holidays and two days of the general strike. The fourth Saturday of this month will be an all-India strike on Monday and Tuesday after tomorrow’s bank holidays and Sundays.

Three of the nine bank employees’ unions are on strike in the state. The two-day strike called for 12 demands, including the repeal of anti-labor labor codes, the repeal of the Essential Prevention Services Act, and the immediate ratification of farmers’ rights.

Most of the employees and members of the All India Bank Association, All India Bank Officers ‘Association, and All India Bank Employees’ Association are participating in the strike. The operations of nationalized banks, co-operative, Grameen banks, and traditional private banks will be disrupted.

At the same time, the operations of new generation banks like HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank are unlikely to be disrupted. The strike will last from 6 am on March 28 to 6 am on March 30.

At the national level, about 20 unions, except BMS, are leading the strike. In Kerala, 22 trade unions will go on strike, the joint committee leaders said at a press conference.
