Kottayam: Landslides in Kottayam and Pathanamthitta districts due to heavy rains. Soil and stones flowed into the road near the BSNL office on Kanamala Eruthavappuzha Road in Kottayam Erumeli South Village. In Kanamala, two houses were destroyed. Many homes were flooded. Soil and water flooded the houses of Antony Theniyappakkal and Robin inside the house. Rob’s mother was buried in the ground but was rescued. Police firefighters arrived at the scene.
The rain, which started at 11 pm late at night, is believed to have caused the landslide. Homes and shops were flooded in the Punchavayal Pakkanam area. It happened in the mountain water patch that came from the forest at night. Troops at the Kanjirapally fire station have evacuated seven flood victims. The landslide occurred in the Pathanamthitta Konni Kokkathodu forest area. Houses were flooded on one acre in Kokkad. Those in the area were evacuated. The water level in the Achan Kovil river rose due to heavy rains.
