The Union Ministry of Health has sanctioned three more oxygen plants in the state

Thiruvananthapuram: The Union Health Ministry has sanctioned three more oxygen plants in the state. The new plant has been sanctioned in Kottayam, Kollam, and Alappuzha districts. New plants have been sanctioned at Pala General Hospital in Kottayam, Pathirappally Hospital in Kollam, and Alappuzha Beach Hospital. Earlier, three plants were allotted.

Funding for the new plants is provided by the PM Care Fund. The location and facilities for setting up the plant should be identified and installed immediately. The Center also wants the plant to be commissioned by the 31st of this month.
The number of patients in need of oxygen in the state is soaring in the second wave of covid. Oxygen shortages have been reported in private hospitals in Kasaragod and Wayanad districts. Kalpetta Fatima Hospital has recently reported a shortage of oxygen. The Chief Minister had also written to the Prime Minister showing that it was difficult to share the oxygen produced by the state with the neighboring states.
