Do not increase the number of pilgrims on Sabarimala: Govt says

Kochi: The government informed the high court not to increase the number of pilgrims at Sabarimala. The government was replying to Congress leader Ajay Tharayil and Ayyappa Seva Samaj’s petition to increase the number of pilgrims in Sabarimala.

State Attorney K V Sohan, who appeared for the government, handed over the medical report to the court. The government said the status quo should continue during the festival. Sannidhanam policemen were also affected by the covid.

If the number of pilgrims increases, there is a risk of spreading the disease. This situation should be avoided. The petitioners want the number of pilgrims to be increased to 10,000 per day. Admission is currently limited to 3,000 on weekends and 2,000 on other days.
