Reserve Bank Governor Urjit Patel resigns

New Delhi: RBI governor Urjit Patel today resigned from the post. “I resign because of personal reasons,” Patel said. It is due to disputes between RBI and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reports said.

The government had demanded Rs 3.6 lakh crore from the RBI reserves. But the RBI has rejected this demand. Following this, the dispute continues with the central government Urjit Patel resigned. There have been allegations of a number of measures taken by the government to regain the autonomous rights of the Reserve Bank of India.
