Kochi: As the anticipation for the Onam 2026 Box Office battle reaches fever pitch, Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran is all set to dominate the festive season with his high-octane action thriller Khalifa. The film has officially completed its censor board formalities, securing a U/A 16+ certificate, and is scheduled for a grand worldwide theatrical release on August 20, 2026.
Directed by hitmaker Vysakh and written by Jinu V. Abraham, Khalifa brings back the explosive actor-director dynamic for the first time since their box-office blockbusters. The film carries the intriguing tagline, “Revenge will be written in golden letters.”
Mohanlal Cameo & Franchise Expansion
Prithviraj portrays the protagonist Mambarakkal Aamir Ali in this big-budget spectacle. Adding massive star power to the project, Complete Actor Mohanlal makes a crucial extended cameo appearance as Mambarakkal Ahamed Ali, Aamir Ali’s grandfather.
The makers have revealed that Khalifa is designed as a multi-part franchise. The upcoming second installment will see Mohanlal in the lead role, revolving entirely around the backstory and legacy of Mambarakkal Ahamed Ali.
Star-Studded Cast & Debutants
Khalifa marks the Mollywood debut of popular Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, who plays a key role, and Telugu actress Malvika Sharma, who plays the female lead opposite Prithviraj.
The romantic track “Asalaye Avale”, featuring Prithviraj and Malvika Sharma with music composed by Jakes Bejoy, has already become a chartbuster across streaming platforms.
The ensemble cast also features prominent talent including Indrans, Renji Panicker, Mohini, Sanju Sivram, Shivajith, Sudeep, Shammi Thilakan, Vaishnavi, and Rushin.

The previously released glimpse video hints at a stylish, large-scale mass action entertainer set against the backdrop of international gold smuggling. Packed with high-speed chase sequences and adrenaline-pumping stunt choreography, the film was shot across scenic global locations including London, Dubai, Nepal, and Kerala.
This project marks another high-profile collaboration between Prithviraj Sukumaran and writer-producer Jinu V. Abraham, following their previous hit collaborations Adam Joan, London Bridge, Masters, and Kaduva.
