Kerala and Tamil Nadu Join Hands Against Drug Trafficking: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala Meets TN CM Joseph Vijay

CHENNAI: In a major collaborative move to curb inter-state drug smuggling, Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala held a high-level consultation with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Joseph Vijay today (15.07.2026). The meeting took place at the Chief Secretariat in Chennai.

The primary focus of the discussion was the coordinated implementation of strict measures to prevent drug trafficking across the borders of both states. During the meeting, the Home Minister briefed the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on Kerala’s ongoing anti-narcotics campaign, ‘Operation Toofan’.

Following the successful meeting, Ramesh Chennithala shared the update on social media:

“The Tamil Nadu government will now stand with us to root out the menace of drugs. Today, I met with the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Shri Joseph Vijay, in Chennai. He highly appreciated our ‘Operation Toofan’ initiative. I also conveyed Kerala’s full support and appreciation for the anti-drug campaign led by Shri Vijay in Tamil Nadu. I am also happy to share another good news—he has informed us that he will soon be visiting Kerala to join us in this fight.”

The joint initiative aims to significantly strengthen border surveillance, streamline intelligence sharing, and ensure a unified crackdown on drug cartels operating between Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
