Washington: The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has ended the policy of automatically extending work authorization for foreign nationals awaiting visa renewal. The decision, effective October 30 (Thursday), will mainly affect Indian professionals working in the U.S. under H-1B visas.
In a parallel move, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ordered state universities to prioritize hiring U.S. citizens over foreign workers holding work visas, as part of a campaign against what he called “H-1B misuse.”
