New Delhi: The Election Commission of India will announce the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list on Monday evening. Around 10–15 states will be covered in this initial phase.
States likely to be included are Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry, where assembly elections are approaching.
The Commission had earlier informed the Madras High Court that the SIR process in Tamil Nadu would begin next week. However, states conducting local body elections may get some relaxation due to staff involvement in poll duties. The SIR will be completed before the assembly polls, officials said.
