New Delhi: The central government has imposed restrictions on silver jewellery imports until March 31, 2026, in response to rising prices. The move aims to prevent misuse of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and curb large-scale imports disguised as finished jewellery. Authorities said such practices adversely affect domestic manufacturers and threaten employment in the jewellery sector. The government emphasized its commitment to protecting small and medium businesses while safeguarding the livelihood of workers in the industry.
