Erattupetta: BJP leader and former MLA P C George surrendered in religious hate speech. The surrender was made in the Erattupetta court.
Although the police had come to PC’s house to take him into custody, P C George was not at home. He surrendered in court later. Although he had been given a notice to appear on Saturday, P C informed the police that he would appear on Monday.
The police moved to arrest P C after the High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea. The Erattupetta police registered a case against P C George under non-bailable sections such as promoting religious enmity and inciting riots on a complaint that he had made anti-Muslim remarks during a channel discussion on January 5. The police took action on a complaint filed by the Youth League.
PC George’s controversial remark was that Muslims in India are religious communalists and have killed thousands of Hindus and Christians. During a channel discussion, PC George had also said that Muslims should go to Pakistan.
