Tehran: Huge earthquake in Iran. Seven people died in the strong earthquake. More than 440 people were injured. The earthquake occurred in the city of Khoy in West Azerbaijan province, which is located on the border with Turkey in northwestern Iran. This caused heavy damage in this area. An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale was felt. Following a strong earthquake, tremors were reported in Tabriz Nadar, East Azerbaijan Province.
Many houses and buildings were destroyed in Khoi Nigaram due to the earthquake. The Iranian authorities stated that the rescue operation in the area is continuing.
