18 children die in Uzbekistan after consuming Indian-made cough syrup

Tashkent: 18 children die in Uzbekistan after consuming Indian-made cough syrup. The children died after consuming Doc-1 Max, a cough syrup manufactured by Marian Biotech.

Following the incident, the drug was banned by the government of Uzbekistan. All the children who died had taken more than the prescribed dose. This drug contained a chemical called ethylene glycol. The authorities suspected that this could be the cause of death.
A few days ago, a similar incident took place in the African country of Gambia. 63 children died of kidney failure after consuming cough syrup manufactured by Maiden Pharma in Haryana. The authorities found that the medicine contained more chemicals than at that time.
